Nellis Flight Simulators/VR pods Edit

any idea how I can use one of the VR pods in NAFB? I am idolized by the Boomers, and I'm pretty sure I've done all the quests (fixed the solar panels, killed ants, collected scrap, raised the bomber plane, got Jack his girl...). Loyal tells me I need some codes and I get the same thing when I just walk up and activate them. 05:05, November 23, 2010 (UTC)dragon210.50.200.34 05:05, November 23, 2010 (UTC)

I don't think you can get access to the VR pods. Either just atmosphere or a cut portion of the game.

I think it's possible, oh, and thanks err-- jsen? jsen? Am I saying that right? For un-banning me. Anyways, I think you can, if you're prepared with a 50-60 Speech skill, after you do favors for the Boomers, go to Pearl, and talk to her. After that, go directly to Loyal's Shack, and ask him. You MUST have a 50-60 Speech skill, be prepared with it BEFORE you even meet the Boomers. Otherwise it will not appear, when it does appear and you have the appropriate skill, ask him, and you'll possibly get the access code for the VR Flight Simulator. Hope this helped.

You can get the access code, but the game won't let you open the actual pods.-- 20:12, March 20, 2012 (UTC)

What. The. Fuck. Edit

Seriously. I had been playing on hardcore, and every single time, I died nearly instantaneously as I stepped into that town. I got so frustrated that I turned of HC and gradually moved the difficulty down, but the results were the same. On very easy, I was still dying too easily. I had to strip down to my scivvies and sprint along the western wall, while taking stimpacks (which are also very hard to come by in the wastes). And then I had to deal with the legion's goddamn assassins (I killed Caesar and Aurelius, so I think that's why they were after me), too. YuriKaslov-M1911 small Yuri Kaslov 02:11, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Sucks... I know how you feel. After proceeding to piss of Caesars Legion,The House Always Wins II quest becomes ... seemingly impossible, damn.

(Remember to sign your posts, folks.)

I am playing Very Hard/Hardcore and, yes, it is no picnic. But I got passed it! Follow George's directions. Here is my interpretation: 1) I had my followers wait by the shack. 2) I skirted along the left-hand side of the rocks leading up from Field's Shack. There are crevices which you need to hug to avoid being demolished by the incoming ordinance. I paused in one such nook just before the clearing where you see the bombed-out residences. Pause for the shelling to pass. 3) Move up and into the north-east corner of the ruined house that has a north-east corner in which to hide. Again, pause for the howitzers. 4) Make a beeline due north to the next rock wall crevice. Once again, pause for the howitzer shelling. 5) On the next break, dash northeast to the chain-link fence of the airbase. Take a right and skirt along the edge of the fence to the gate where you will be challenged by the guard. Be civil in your dialog and you are taken into custody to meet Pearl.

It took me four tries to get this down. Once inside the base proceed with whatever quest that brought you to Nellis.

Meh, took me about three goes. After the first I left my companions behind. Third I made it through but crippled. Don't think I used many stimpacks. Once you figure out what's happening it's not hard. I suppose the OP does realise it's meant to be almost instantaneously lethal?

I do. It's just it was weird with the Legion chasing after me. YuriKaslov-M1911 small Yuri Kaslov 23:09, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

Folks, the buildings may be craters but George's directions work. Go into the first destroyed building on the left of the main road and get into the north east corner. I know it doesn't look like it can protect against artillery but it does. Wait there until the bombardment stops. I know it doesn't seem like it will, but after about 20 shells, it stops. Then run the next building before it starts again. Same thing there, north east corner. Same thing again, 20 to 30 shells. Once that stops go to the fence. Not the gate, the fence. Once you're at the fence you're good. It can be a little tricky to get into the blown out buildings, so you may need to jump or crouch. I did this and didn't even get a scratch.

Or, you could just head round past Raul's shack, through the old train tunnel with the ghouls in it, then, when out the other side you sprint to the right, they will bomb for a second but you should be right. Then just wander up to the fence and follow it down to the main gate. You miss the destroyed town entirely. Piece of cake every time, even on hardcore mode. [djAMPnz]

If you are having trouble reaching Nellis....starting on the road leading into the Nellis area.....Move to the left side of the road and go forward....once you can see the shelled buildings....go left...follow the rock wall and buildings until you reach the fence...DO NOT STOP TILL YOU REACH THE FENCE....turn right and follow the fence until you are standing at the gate.......this should give you the Nellis marker on your map....if i am not can go into your Pip-Boy and click on the Nellis marker that you just got and it should put both your companions back in action...that is if you have any companions...-{Vampyre1979}-

My roommate and I can both get through it without getting hurt at all. Just run to the intact corner of the first house, then to the second house when the bombardment stops, then get to the fence as fast as possible. Thecourier0811 20:52, February 7, 2012 (UTC)

Why is there a link to a Kirby Game at Nintendo? Edit

When I click on the Train Link talking about the flight simulators, I get redirected to a Kirby Page by Nintendo? Is that Vandalism or just dubious advertising?

Boomers a nuclear power? Edit

IIRC, Pete says something like "we haven't detonated a nuke since before I was born..." after passing the 40 explosives check. This would seem to imply the Boomers had (or have) nuclear capabilities. It may also explain why the sunglasses at the old test site haven't crumbled to dust in the 200+ years since the US Government last conducted a test there (though that's strictly supposition). I'd add this to the article, but I passed through that dialogue a while ago now and would like some confirmation first. 21:30, November 28, 2010 (UTC)

Given the skewed view of history the Boomers have, I think Pete's referring to the Great War. Boomers don't have nuclear munitions. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 21:36, November 28, 2010 (UTC)
Errr, fat man, mini nukes any one?

Roving Boomers Edit

I was wandering the wastes and when i got to the mojave outpost (at the opposite end of the map!!) i saw some people behind that gate you can't get through. turn's out it was a congregation of about 5-6 boomers all bashing into eachother. someone please explain?-- 15:17, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

Seems to be some kind of glitch. People have reported Great Khans on black mountain and other odd spawns. Seemingly no other reason to it.

Bearded lady Edit

Anyone see the boomer girl with the beard? She's in the mess hall its hard to tell cause she has small boobs but its a girl and weird

10 Points of Luck Edit

I got the 181,000th edit on the wiki since the special badges were added. So far the badge is one of a kind, I am thrilled to see it attached to my favorite New Vegas faction, the Boomers. Mictlantecuhtli 00:06, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Section deletion/ possible re-write Edit

How specifically is the bit about the Boomers being the tribal kids from Beyond the Thunder Doom plausible? I haven't seen the movie in a while, but all they were were kids that got stranded in a plane crash and wanted to go home. Boomers are vault dwellers who escaped Fallout Wiki 34 with a bunch of explosives, and found more explosives at Nellis Air Force Base, where they found more guns, and everything they needed for substance agriculture, found some howitzers, and will kill anyone that annoys them. I guess since they both are post apocalyptic tribes that want a plane they kinda might be similar, but the Boomers don't want a plane to fly home in, they want it to bomb the hell out of everyone who isn't them! Maybe I'm being to harsh, and maybe I'm missing a connection here, but If I'm right, the behind the scenes section is just nonsenses that should be deleted. (Troper of the Wastelands 19:32, August 10, 2011 (UTC)):

as it currently reads:

Behind the scenesEdit Behind the scenes sectionEdit

The Boomers are a reference to the tribals that appear in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. The Boomers and the general history of Vault 34 might also be a subtle critique over the long-debated issue of the constitutional "Right to Bear Arms", with the Boomers being a symbol for allegedly anti-governments militias that claim to protect said rights from the American government, especially when it involves posting limitations/restrictions on gun selling/possession.

Update: section deleted as part of the overhaul, the section has been copied to this section of the chat page for viewing, any challengers to this edit, speak your mind now or never (Troper of the Wastelands 19:39, August 10, 2011 (UTC))

  • It is in my understanding that this tribe of children "keep their memories of the past civilization alive in the form of spoken 'tells', including the return of the messianic "Captain Walker" who will repair the aircraft and return them to civilization." Which is striking similar to how the boomers like to tell of their past, mostly Pete, as well as Pearl predicting that some one would one day help connect the boomers to the outside world. Also one may connect the similarities of the safe oasis the tribe lives in, to the Nellis Air Force Base. Both also include a Boeing airplane, although Boeing planes are fairly popular and common. Main point is that both the tribe and faction want to connect to the outside world.
  • I used wikipedia as research so I suppose actually re-watching the movie for verification wouldn't hurt, but I don't own it so it's up to you or someone else. --Living Lifeless 9 21:13, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

very easy money Edit

you can make masses of money killing all the boomers(barring of course named characters) while hidden with a weapon such as the silenced sniper rifle for no karma loss. all the boomers carry valuable weapons such as grenades/launchers and rifles rocket launchers along with ammunition which can make you many thousands of caps when gathered up and sold.some boomers even carry fat mans

Glitch or insult? Edit

Random Boomers always say "Watch your step, sister." Not sure why, since my character is a guy. I have played through the game with a female character and I think they said the same thing. Is this a glitch, or do they always say that? INF1DEL 12:48, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Same thing happens to me but my character also sounds like a girl....even when it's not supposed to be one. This happens to everybody else, or so it seems. What you're gonna do.. [A] 06:21, September 14, 2011 (UTC)

It's a reference to an old Navy propaganda comic from 1944. --mlanting 03:30, February 5, 2012 (UTC)!-military-comic/ John.gerity 13:14, May 9, 2012 (UTC)

Boomer Leaders Edit

The leaders you need to kill for the violent resolution (Render Unto Caesar, etc.) are Pearl and Loyal. Easily done at night, when they can be caught alone.

How do you trigger that speech check where Loyal gives you the codes for the VR pods?-- 07:07, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Baby "Boomers" ? Edit

With all the 1950's era music, imagery, mentalities, and aesthetics used throughout the Fallout series, I'm surprised that noone's drawn a connection between the name of these vault dweller descendants and the surge of childbirth rates after WWII. Maybe it's just so painfully obvious that pointing it out would seem inane.

Boomers and Vault 13/ArroyoEdit

I find Boomers strangely alike to Vault13 immigrants after Fallout1 event.

- Descendant of vault dwellers.

- They constantly refer PC as sav- . Well, if you could think they mean savage, but in an ironic twist, it could mean savior, the prophezied stranger who will lead the tribe into a new world. Sound so much like Chosen One of Arroyo who is descendant of V13 dwellers.

- Pearl? A missed opportunity: get her a gravelly voice and she's will be so alike to Arroyo's Elder.

It might just be I am overthinking it, though.Laclongquan (talk) 08:47, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

Boomers reputationEdit

What? It's damn easy compared to other.

Do the museum miniquest properly, with all check completed. Magazines may involve. Accepted.

Do the 3 patients quest properly. 1 mag may be needed.

Do the SUnshine boogie. An NCR guy will get the parts with no problem. A Legion guy prolly will get all the NCR guard killed during activating Archimedes, also no problem. Failing that 65 repair get the job done, which mean V3 utility jumpsuit, one mag, and reasonable Repair. Science 50 also easy to get, what with Followers coat and a mag. Which mean 120% effiency on the array. Liked. possibly Idolized.

At this time I got Idolized, with ant quest still unreported yet. Around half the fame quest still untouched.Laclongquan (talk) 10:49, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
