Andrews AFB[]

Adams is based off of Andrews Air Force Base in real-life Virginia, which happens to be the home airfield of Air Force One. I hope we can see a ruined presidential jetliner in DLC. Bar27262 01:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

I doubt it, China probably would have bombed Air Forcer One incase of presidental escape to an island or anything. Realek 01:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't know, they nailed the White House pretty good, and it seems as if there wasn't much time for coordination. Seems like it's a logical connection to me. --Captain192 01:46, 28 April 2009 (UTC)Captain192
I hope if it's in the game we will be able to go inside it or maybe see part of it maybe part of a wing or something.Mikill 02:06, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
ICBMs and bombers take a long time to reach their target and the Presidential staff are highly trained and prepared for such an event. It's likely Air Force One took off before any of the nukes even hit. J. Smythe 02:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Too bad the President was already on the Oil Rig by then. And ICBMs take about 45 minutes to reach their target, hardly long. That Furry Bastard 08:51, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
45 minutes is long enough to escape - just. Skip about all of the pre-flight checks while the President is on his way. They won't share how long it would take the President to be evacuated, but with nuclear threat on the horizon, they'd definitely have plans to evacuate the President before an ICBM could hit DC. Either way, we know he escaped long before October. J. Smythe 21:39, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Maybe a bit off-topic, I'm always rather curious about the history of places in this game, but especially about Adams AFB, there's hardly anything: The runway has obviously sustained some kind of carpet bombing. To me, it looks a lot like the kind of orbital bombardment the Crawler's up to. Was it nuclear, anyway? Everything seems to be in quite good shape, just like nobody took care of the place for 200 years. If you return to the AFB after finishing BS, there's no radiation around the crawler (anyway, I can't recall any radiation throughout Adams AFB). Aside from the possibilty of mini-nuke-like quickly vanishing radiation, Adams AFB's craters are quite small (again, mini nukes?) compared to the irradiated holes found throughout the Wasteland - from the Chinese perspective, wouldn't one big ICBM have done the same job? Maybe it was a MIRV'ed ICBM? An AFB in the DC area would certainly have been a primary target, wouldn't it? As the damage to the runway looks like an orbital strike from a satellite like Bradley-Hercules - was it even the Chinese who bombed the AFB? Perhaps they had similar weapon systems, but as the Satellite Control Terminal mentions the bombardment of the Crawler as a means of self destruct, did something like that happen to Adams AFB, too? Plus, 4 of the satellites 8 silos were depleted - compared to the fireworks on the crawler from 4 silos, it looks like it took only one silo-salvo to destroy Liberty Prime. If so, where went the payload of the three "missing" silos? In the chaos of the Great War - and fueled by commie paranoia - did the US bomb their own base? Ok, this getting way off-topic, sorry. But I'm very curious - any suggestions? --Sopyt 23:22, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I was also thinking about what good condition it's in. Also, did the Enclave repaint some of the white lines? Fat Man Spoon 15:03, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
It could've been from the Enclave capturing the runway from any previous occupants or it might have been some other conflict. A lot can happen in 200 years.J. Smythe 21:39, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Question[]

So does anyone know what this is actualy going to be? Is it like a new enclave main base, a battleground or just some big space we have to trek across lol?--Greig91 21:35, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Turns out it was all of the above. J. Smythe 02:41, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Enclave Soldier Log #1[]

  • From the Control Tower, go south between the buildings, turn right between some other buildings, then continue past some stairs and go through a narrow space between two buildings. Turn left, then right, then go up the stairs. Back in a corner surrounded by First Aid Boxes and other loot is the body of an Enclave Soldier on which you will find this recording of the Enclave starting the procedure to destroy Liberty Prime, but the recording is not complete. Has anyone come across Logs #2 or later?

I found #two at a station closer to the Air Traffic control tower.

Return to Adams AFB?[]

Does anyone know if it is possible to return to Adams AFB after Who Dares Wins, I want to know if I can drop some items there and return for them, and if you have to return via the Presidential Metro.Skypopper 14:36, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, with the metro. Best route is the shortcut through the capitol building62.163.88.139 14:45, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Note about the Precision Gatling Laser[]

I think we should remove the note about comparing it to the Vengeance. Testing has been done, and though it's base damage is lower, it's critical rate is higher, making more powerful. Which in turn makes a note comparing prices and stating that the Vengeance is worth less than the Precision kind of erroneous.Cavesloth 17:19, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Cavesloth

Unlimited exp[]

If you have 75 lockpicking and science, I'm pretty sure it's possibly to get unlimited experience here by hacking one of the deathclaw cage terminals, and repeatedly picking the door, then locking it with the terminal. I'm not a wiki type of person, so thought I'd mention it in here and let someone add it.

You only get the EXP for picking the doors once. Still a bunch of XP though.

Mini-Nukes?[]

Could someone please tell me where the 2 nukes on the AFB are? I can't find a hangar with 3 planes inside. All hangars I found had eighter 2 or 4 planes inside and no desks or filling cabinets.--emkay 14:40, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

They are in the Adams storage facility. Fat Man Spoon 14:41, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

There are some that aren't in the storage facility. When you first reach the hangers, take a hard left over some catwalks, I think it's the middle hanger out of the 3.67.211.81.140 17:09, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Cavesloth

Is it possible to come back here after finishing Who Dares Wins?[]

I just finished Who Dares Wins today, a couple hours ago, tops. I was curious, is it possible to come back here after finished said quest? I just ran through without knowing the loot here.--71.126.46.139 00:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes. Fat Man Spoon 16:07, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Not the Mobile Base Crawler though. Obviously, once you level it you can't go back in. J. Smythe 02:39, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
But what about if you choose to level the citadel? Is the crawler still there? 99.192.76.119 14:32, December 6, 2009 (UTC)
No. - 24.174.15.231 23:46, December 29, 2009 (UTC)
Well, in my experience after leveling the Citadel the answer is "yes." The Mobile Base Crawler remains intact; however, it is impenetrable. Growl-tiger 15:42, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Respawn?[]

Let me guess, Enclave don't respawn do they? 81.234.140.17 01:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

They do for the most part. Their scattered posts in the Capitol Wasteland have respawning troops. I often go to the one by Meresti Metro Station to loot them and practice sniping. I haven't returned to Adams Air Force Base after destroying their Mobile Base Crawler just yet, but I'd imagine the surrounding area would still have Enclave troops. J. Smythe 02:37, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I only meant the AAFB actually. I'm 81.234.140.17, Adjust. 23:19, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
AAFB is later occupied by the Brotherhood(if you chose the good ending) 88.91.230.189 19:16, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
The Brotherhood occupies Adams AFB even if you decide to destroy the Citadel and then return. Be prepared for a fire fight. To answer the original poster's query, no, the Enclave does re-spawn. In my one experience with this scenario there was a single Enclave trooper present duking it out with a Brotherhood paladin at the end of the runway. Not much of a presence, but there you go. Anyway, the fight with the Brotherhood if you destroyed the Citadel is worthwhile if you covet the Tesla Cannons that are to be found there in storage or use. Growl-tiger 15:35, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Entering Adams after "Who Dares Wins"[]

Hy, all. I've read here that it is possible to return to Adams after the quest, but my question is "how?".

'Cos i've been to the Presidential Metro Station after the quest but found no Presidential Metro to travel in?

How's that done? I'd like to go there and loot some more...

Nevermind, just been there and picked up some goodies like Teslas...

Followers[]

If it possible to bring followers such as Fawkes or Clover in Adam's Air Base? After you get in the Vertibird, do they disappear? Respawn? Teleport to the Citadel? Get ON the Vertibird? I'd like to know before attempting this quest. Exclaiimer

Your companions (Dogmeat and one other follower) will accompany you to the Citadel, but you will not see them on the Vertibird during the journey from Adams AFB to the Citadel; the cutscene within the Vertibird only includes members of Lyon's Pride. You will see the followers again once you exit the Vertibird at the Citadel. Growl-tiger 05:05, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

Going back after Who Dares Who Wins[]

You can go back and about 7-10 BOS soldiers occupy the base. Only 1 Enclave soldier and 2 sentry bots respawn

Bug I have found[]

I have submitted a bug about falling through one of the buildings in the base, onto the main article. Correct it if needed, but it works on an xbox 360 (i have pictures, albeit slightly ones, as I cba with my capture card for something like this), and I have the exact loacation, too. It definitely works, but what I now need is:

1) Should I upload my pictures? Which ones should I upload? 2) Could someone else test it on a PS3 or PC or whatever? 3) Should I amend the edit I made to the article in any way?

Reason for Name change?[]

Why instead of just calling it Andrews AFB do they change the name? Is it some legal reason?

Good question. After all, Raven Rock is still called Raven Rock. And thats a more secretive government facility so its not like they would get mad about Andrews AFB. I hate when games and movies do that. If that were always the case I might have been fighting super mutants in the ruins of Columbia District City...ugh! Maybe its not even the same place perhaps?

Andrews Air Force Base (now known as Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington) has been around since the 1850s, and was named Camp Springs Air Base in 1942. It got the name "Andrews" in 1947, which is right around the time of the divergence. It could be a discontinuity, or it may not be. --Kris User Hola 03:57, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Shooting unlimited Enclave Soldiers?[]

Hey there! I'm sitting since a too long time at my PC shooting hundreds of Enclave Soldiers. I am in one of these great halls (there were many scrap metals lootable) and shooting down to that place where the Brotherhood and the Enclave are fighting... But the row of Enclave Soldiers seemingly never ends... Does anyone have an idea? I almost made a whole level with this boring shooting, but dont want to leave these poor Brotherhood guys alone. ;)

Lagging, then Crashing[]

I have not been able to progress through AAFB because my game keeps slowing down before crashing. I'm on a PS3, can anyone help me figure out just what the heck's causing this? Thanks --The Arcadian Rook. 17:27, July 7, 2011 (UTC)

Sector Hangar 5A and 5B[]

xbox. GOTY Version. It is possible using a single barrel to jump the fence and get into Hangar 4A but not 4B and go round Hangar 5A and 5B --1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 21:26, July 12, 2013 (UTC)

The two fighter planes in Hangar 4A[]

xbox 360.GOTY version. The two planes in Hanger 4A are idential in shape but not size to the three planes in Hangar 2A and also those on the deck at Rivet City. The planes in Hangar 4A standing 10 to 12 inches taller. The ones in 2A and at Rivet City can easily be jumped onto while the ones in hanger 4A cannot. The jet exhaust pipe is likewise seen to be larger.--1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 06:32, July 17, 2013 (UTC)

Obvious exit over the wall to the west[]

xbox 360.GOTY. Exiting over the wall next to the Resupply Crate parachute into the Wasteland. Little of any interest. The Metal Gate to Adams AFB Metro Exit can be used from the wasteland in the third person if required. Hangar 4A not availaible on this exit.--1000HrsFallout3 (talk) 17:12, July 16, 2013 (UTC)
