A reference to Mary Poppins? Or just to taking whiskey as "medicine?"[]

Reference?

A Spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down -Mary Poppins

They should've called it 'whiskey in a jar'... okay, maybe not. 81.155.18.124 19:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Tinblitz81.155.18.124 19:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Considering that a spoonful of whiskey is an old folk remedy for a number of ailments, it might not be a reference to much anything at all.

There's been some minor disagreement about the nature of the title of this quest recently, but I think it's fair to assume it's a dual reference both to the folk remedy and to the Mary Poppins song. While Whiskey and the like have certainly been used as a "medicine" for some time, I see little evidence that such use is necesarily by the spoonful. Indeed, it's a common stereotype for Appalacian citizens to take large quantities of their "medicine". And the connection to medicine is consistant with both the quest and the song, (I.e. A spoonful of "medicine" helps the medicine go down). I agree that the supposed connection to methanol burning, etc., is more dubious. -132.183.140.139 01:30, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
I favored the Mary Poppins reference, but... What's written now about taking small amounts of spirits as medicine is true and fitting entirely. If there were any secondary corroborative Mary Poppins-ish stuff to find, it would be more conclusive. As it is, it is not worth an argument. Kingclyde settled the recent argument (of which I was a part) quite nicely, I think, by writing the current entry. I'm content to leave it as is.--Gothemasticator 06:29, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
I've noticed a lot of people on this site have a hard time accepting a double entendre when it comes to references. Granted, it's something quite silly to argue about, but it doesn't have to be just one thing. It's a device used pretty frequently in video games when one has to name something and has proper license to be clever or witty. John Larson 04:57, September 12, 2010 (UTC)

Worth of this?[]

Has anyone else noticed that you lose profit from undertaking this?

(Yeast) 21 x 3 = 63
(Batteries) 75 x 6 = 450
(Refined/Wild)(30 x 10 = 300 / 10 x 20 = 200)

813 / 713

Reward:

50 x 6 + 300 = 600

You lose:

(Wild) 713 - 600 = 113
(Refined) 813 - 600 = 213

You lose money making Rock-it Launchers, and people still do. You might want to put this on the page. Nitpicker of the Wastes 13:36, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
You only lose profit if you could have collected and sold the ingredients. I've accumulated 10x (maybe 100x) more stuff than the combined caps available from every merchant in the game, so if I can get ANY caps for something from a non-merchant, that is more than I would have gotten from collecting the stuff and not being able to sell it to merchants.
Yeah, except that you don't sell items at the same price as their value listed in your inventory. 4RM0 19:54, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Dogmeat Appeared[]

When I was in the moonshiner's shack and was told I would have to come back to get some moonshine, I used the Wait button to have 24 hours go by. After it did, Dogmeat was in the shack too. Since I left him in Megaton, I assume that this is a glitch.

Especially considering followers are fired when you go to point lookout --DragonJTSLeave me a message 00:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Boardwalk[]

She says their's a stash of yeast on the boardwalk, but I can't find any there. not even the store sells it. --DragonJTSLeave me a message 00:41, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Glitchy quest?[]

Am I the only one who thinks her shack is glitchy? After waiting the 24hrs to finish the quest, Paladin Hoss randomly appeared in her shack.

Either this place randomly spawns NPCs or its glitchy as hell.

Hoss is the glitchy one. I'm pretty sure there's a picture of him aboard Zeta somewhere... Nitty 14:04, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

On my PS3 save I've given the ingredients to the kind lady and she told me to come back in 24 hours when it was done. That was probably weeks of game time ago, and she still does the same thing so I can't complete the quest. Same thing happened with Diego and Angela's wedding.
