:It doesn't seem there is any workaround either. None of the items are weapons so they cannot be taken by hostile NPCs nor can they be taken by Dogmeat, especially since he's unable to steal. I guess the only people who can do it are the ones on PC who use the console to change ownership of the safe. Sometimes I wish I had got this game for PC.

Revision as of 17:20, 27 March 2010

I can verify that in my game, the theft/karma loss bug occurs also. I am playing the PC version of the game. -J.F. I can also verify that it happened on one of my Xbox 360 characters. Urgh? --Vault Snake 02:11, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Same thing just happened 5 minutes ago.--76.221.156.245 00:59, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Starting the Quest

On a patched PC version, I can start the quest by going directly and talk with "Daring" without speaking to any other person inside the tower. At least if i take the "correct" speach choices i get him to wonder what happened to Argyle.

That Caps reward thing

When I completed the quest, I took the caps, he saw it, and he did NOT turn aggresive to me. So I'm not sure the information on the page is true? Tedjuh10 12:29, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

I saved beforehand and tried taking one thing at a time. He attacked me no matter what I took. Bottrot 02:41, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

i actually think that him going hostile is the bug, not him staying friendly. for those who think they'll have him go hostile, save and don't open the safe until he doesn't see you. for those who think they wont...it's best to do that anyway just to be on the safe side...and just reload the save if he does go hostile.Wrpen-99 07:14, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

get reward without doing anything.

Even if you're unable to get the quest, you can still kill him and take the key anyway. Best if you don't mind bad karma.

Linking with Tenpenny Tower Quest

"This is not the case on the PS3 as I had killed Roy Philips and his Ghouls and found Argyle before even talking to Dashwood and he still gave me his key."

Snipped this bit out the Notes, dealing with possible complications with the automatic replies following the Tenpenny Tower quest. Needs investigation. Since I'm also on a PS3 version, entered Rockopolis before Tenpenny Tower was even marked on my map, killed the ghouls before finding Daring, and Daring now doesn't say anything more than what a fine job I did with Roy's gang... I'm sceptical. I would like to be proven wrong, though. --Zakrael 01:17, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Does Arglye really kill you instantly if you ressurect him and make him hostile?

Can anyone with the PC version of the game confirm this:

If you resurrect Argyle by using commands (PC only), and make him hostile, he WILL kill you instantly. Remember that he was somehow able to just rip out Penelope's heart, according to GNR Radio.

It seems unlikely Bethesda gave him the ability to do this, as he is not meant to be alive at all, making that seem like a pointless thing to do (shouldn't they be fixing bugs instead???)

Don't worry, it's bullshit. Nitty 01:22, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

I just tried it, he isn't hostile at all. You can even talk to him but all you can say is "I have to go" or something to that extent.

Moved from problem reports

The article indicates that if Dashwood gives you the key, two things happen: 1) You only get negative karma if you take the caps. This is false. You get negative karma if you take anything. 2) Taking the caps makes Dashwood hostile towards you. This is false. You can take anything and everything from the safe and he will not become hostile.

I am playing on the 360 with the Broken Steel add-on. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karmynis (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

I am getting negative karma no matter what I take, and he is becoming hostile when I take the bottle caps, making this quest quite useless for me. On 360 w/ no addons.ISamurai 20:50, September 19, 2009 (UTC)
