The switchblade is a weapon in Fallout 3.
Characteristics[]
The switchblade is a small and lightweight melee weapon. It is affected by the melee damage bonus from Strength.
Durability[]
The switchblade can successfully strike about 400 times from full condition before breaking.
Variants[]
- Butch's Toothpick - Carried by Butch DeLoria outside of Vault 101, Butch's Toothpick does more damage than the regular switchblade, and has a higher chance to inflict a critical hit.
- Butch's switchblade - A unique, non-playable switchblade carried by Butch.
Concealed switchblade - A miscellaneous item that can be given to the player by Wernher during Into The Pitt if they ask him if they can sneak a weapon past the gate guards, then ask for a knife. It is replaced by a normal switchblade once Into The Pitt is completed.

Locations[]
- Switchblades can be found on random raiders or Talon Company mercs across the Wastelands.
- Cherry carries one.
- Springvale school, on the upper level: stabbed into the desk with the diary terminal.
- In a suitcase at the foot of Billy Creel's bed in Megaton.
- Vault 101, if you kill or pickpocket Butch while escaping the Vault.
- Canterbury Commons: two can be found in Dominic and Machete's Garage.
- Old Olney: in a mail dropbox.
- Warrington trainyard: Bessie Lynn has one. Either kill her or pickpocket it.
- Chevy Chase: across from GNR, there is a school with dead super mutants from Following in His Footsteps. Search the desks, and you will most often find a switchblade, along with some beer.
- Can be found in random metal boxes across the Capital Wasteland.
