Background [ ] Swan boats were a tourist attraction before the War, operating in Swan's Pond near Boston Common . The boats were a landmark and a Bostonian tradition. Each boat is green and red in color, with two pontoons, a brass seat atop a paddle box concealed by a white fiberglass swan, and wooden benches for passengers.
