This page is about the perk. For the character known as the Survivalist, see Randall Clark.

You are a master of the outdoors. This Perk confers the ability to survive in hostile environments. You get a +20% bonus to Outdoorsman for survival purposes, for each level of this Perk.— in-game description, Fallout

Survivalist is a perk in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. It was also cut from Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout[edit | edit source]

With each level of this perk, you will get +20% bonus when checks are made against the Outdoorsman skill, for purposes of determining if the player receives dehydration damage (Desert random encounters) or damage from a rockfall (Mountain random encounters). The Outdoorsman skill itself does not increase.

Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics[edit | edit source]

With this perk, you will get +25% bonus to Outdoorsman.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

In unpatched Fallout 2, this perk give you +40% bonus to Outdoorsman instead of 25%. [verified]

Fallout: New Vegas[edit | edit source]

Icon cut content.pngThe following is based on Fallout: New Vegas cut content and has not been confirmed by canon sources.

This perk does not exist in the G.E.C.K., but an image of a Vault Boy named "perk_survivalist" can be found in the game files and proves that the perk was planned. Otherwise, benefit, prerequisites and description are unknown.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

  • The image for this perk in Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics is obviously inspired by Sylvester Stallone's character John Rambo, from the movies First Blood; Rambo: First Blood, Part Two and Rambo III.
  • The Vault Boy in the unused Survivalist perk image for Fallout: New Vegas wears a sleeveless duster, similar to that worn by Ulysses.
