A submachine gun (SMG) is a magazine-fed, automatic carbine designed to fire handgun cartridges.
Models[]
10mm submachine gun (Fallout 1/2)[]
The H&K MP9 submachine is a weapon commonly found in New California, chambered for 10mm ammunition. The MP9 features semi-automatic and burst firing modes. Coupled with the compact design, sturdiness, and light weight, it becomes a powerful asset in the hands of anyone in the wasteland.[1][2]
10mm submachine gun (Fallout 3/New Vegas/76)[]

M3A1 "Grease Gun" SMG[]
This submachine gun filled National Guard arsenals after the Army replaced it with newer weapons. However, the "Grease" gun was simple and cheap to manufacture so there are still quite a few still in use. It's very powerful, but its .45 rounds lack the bonuses of 10mm rounds.
Tommy gun[]
The Thompson is well-fed by a large 50 round drum magazine. Like the Grease gun, the Thompson is pretty powerful, but fires nondescript .45 rounds.
P90c[]
At the time of the war, this Heckler & Koch brand weapon was just coming into use. Known for reliability and high firepower.[3]
9mm submachine gun[]
An ancient firearm that had been produced as early as 1932,[4] the 9mm submachine gun is a compact weapon with a collapsible stock and high rate of fire, emptying its standard magazine of 30 rounds in 3 seconds flat.[citation needed]

12.7mm submachine gun[]
More common in higher levels, the 12.7mm submachine gun is a heavy duty large caliber SMG. It features a top mounted magazine, the bullets lie at a right angle to the weapon.
Silenced .22 SMG[]
The silenced .22 SMG is iconic with its unusual pan magazine, which sits atop the gun rather than under. The silencer is integrated right into the barrel.
.45 Auto submachine gun[]
Used by the tribes in Zion Canyon and the Triggermen of the Commonwealth, the .45 Auto SMG is a relatively robust gun that offers heavy firepower. However, the result is that this gun requires two hands to operate. Also, the heavy recoil means that this SMG's accuracy will suffer in long-distance engagements.

Sten gun[]

---|
The Sten Gun was developed by the British during WWII as a cheap alternative to the more expensive Thompson SMG offered by the Americans. The Sten proved to be extremely reliable and, due to its fairly loose tolerances, could perform in poor conditions reliably.[5]
MP5 H&K[]
The most widely used submachine gun of the late 20th century.[6]
UZI[]
A classic amongst "drug runners and elderly folk" during the beginning of the 21st century. The weapon is described as cheap, light, and jams infrequently.[7]
Scorpio[]
Used by members of the Spetsnaz.[8]
MP-38[]
The cheap and reliable weapon was introduced as the standard sub machine gun of the German army in 1938.[9]
Walther MPL[]
With an optional collapsible stock, the weapon was used by border guards and other policing outfits.[10]
FN P90c[]
At the end of the war, this Fabrique Nationale brand weapon was just coming into use. Known for reliability and high firepower.[11]
Calico Liberty 100[]
A fully automatic, extended variation of the Calico line.[12]
