For a cross-game overview of this perk, see Strong Back. |
“What are you, part pack mule? Though those favoring heavier weapons and armor are likely to take this perk on general principle, it's also hugely beneficial to scavengers; spend more time in the wilderness gathering loot to sell or trade! Carry a greater complement of killing equipment! And at higher levels, have some way of easily maneuvering back to safety without dropping your ill-gotten gains.”— Fallout 4 Vault Dweller's Survival Guide p. 13
Strong Back is a Strength perk in Fallout 4.
Effects[]
Taking this perk grants bonus Carry Weight. Higher ranks increase the value more as well as grant the ability to sprint and also to fast travel while overencumbered, and reduces the AP cost of sprinting by 50% when overencumbered.

Notes[]
- With rank 3 of this perk, running while overencumbered consumes AP in a manner identical to sprinting. Because of this, increased Endurance lowers the AP drain, and if wearing power armor, its fusion core will deplete faster.
- Rank 3 of Moving Target synergizes with rank 3 of this perk, reducing the AP drain of running while overencumbered. It further stacks with rank 5 of this perk multiplicatively, further reducing (though not negating) the AP drain.
- On Survival mode, due to fast travel being disabled, rank 4 instead negates damage taken from being overencumbered.
- If the Sole Survivor has the Action Boy/Action Girl perk or any other AP regen increasing effects, it will slow down how much AP drain is used while actively running with rank 3, but will never totally negate the AP drain, i.e. the player cannot have a high enough AP regen rate as to gain a net plus of AP while moving when overencumbered.
Bugs[]
The help text in the perks screen incorrectly states the Normal mode effects for rank 4 even when playing in Survival mode.[verified]
