Strangler bloom is a consumable item in Fallout 76.

A blossoming strangler pod supporting a white five-petaled flower. The base of each the petals are dark purple with a green vein-like pattern. Each flower has three prominent speckled stamens and emits a distinct bright green glow, even after picking.

Having blossomed from a strangler pod, the flowers can be found in many of the same swampy areas, growing on trees, rocks, and old stumps.

Strangler blooms are used in the recipe for RadShield and the disease cure Mire variant.

Strangler blooms are found in the Mire, by the river to the West and Northwest of Dyer Chemical.[verified] They can be found attached to tree roots and tree stumps in place of strangler pods. They appear after flushing the river with fertilizer during the quest An Organic Solution.

Strangler blooms may also be obtained as a rare reward for completing the Project Paradise event quest.

The mechanics of strangler bloom spawn are shrouded in mystery. The community has mentioned (without evidence):

  • They are confined to the Dyer Chemical river area.
  • They spawn at night (false, although this makes them easier to see).
  • Verdant season makes them spawn (false, but this does give a 33% chance of harvesting an additional strangler bloom).

There is also a theoretical 25% chance of spawning a strangler bloom instead of a glow pod after an intercontinental ballistic missile hits the area, but this never applies because the evaluation order in the data files is wrong and all strangler pods are converted to glow pods first.

Strangler blooms actually spawn when a character who is at the correct stage of the quest An Organic Solution enters the area, and persist from that point until the server restarts. The surest method to acquire strangler blooms - besides having such a character - is to server jump (exit to menu and play) on Dyer Chemical. Please note that the game recognizes that the resource has been gathered once they are picked, so it will take some time to pick them up again even if they appear in the game.
