Steve Massey is a developer who worked at Bethesda Game Studios Austin on Fallout 76 as a level designer. In the updated credits for Wastelanders, he was listed as a lead level designer. In the updated credits for Test Your Metal, he was listed as a lead designer. He later left Bethesda, having worked on the game from 2018 to 2022.

Work on the Fallout series[]

On Fallout 76, Massey led the development of the Daily Ops feature, introduced in One Wasteland For All. He also wrote the holotapes The Golden Holotape[1] and Where am I?,[2] as well as Insult Bot's dialogue.[3] He helped review many random encounters for the game, including the Eyebot Pied Piper (for which he came up with the idea of adding music to the encounter)[4] and Unusual Pipe (for which he revised the Pipe... note).[5] Massey was also the lead designer on Expeditions: The Pitt.

As the lead level designer of Fallout 76, he worked on a number of major and minor locations in the game.[6]

In August 2022, Massey left Bethesda and thus work on Fallout 76 to pursue indie game development.[8] After departing from Bethesda, Massey was credited for additional design leadership.
