Spineless is a special perk in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Obtaining[]
This perk is rewarded automatically along with Brainless and Heartless while talking to Klein and the Think Tank during Welcome to the Big Empty, when the conversation comes to the topic of the Courier's brain, heart, and spine being removed and replaced with Big MT technology.
During and after completing Old World Blues, if it was installed, the Sink Auto-Doc can optionally be used to swap it with Reinforced Spine and vice versa.
Effects[]
Gaining this perk grants a permanent immunity to crippling for the player character's torso and a permanent +1 to Strength and Damage Threshold.
Notes[]
- While all three perks are available as soon as one appears on the Sink balcony at the start of the add-on and can be viewed in the Perks section of the Pip-Boy, they are not introduced until talking to the Think Tank.
- Compared to Reinforced Spine, this perk grants half the Strength and Damage Threshold bonuses with the benefit of making the torso incapable of being crippled.
- The perk shares Reinforced Spine's Vault Boy image.
- The perk's +1 Strength bonus is not added to the base Strength attribute, thus it will not count toward qualifying for perks when leveling but will count for all other associated Strength effects.
- The perk does not pair well with Eye for Eye as it reduces the total number of limbs that can be crippled and limits the full potential of that perk's damage bonus.
Behind the scenes[]
"Spineless" is an adjective associated with a lack of courage, mental/moral strength and resolution.
