The South Mountain nuke crater was an unmarked location in the Savage Divide region of Appalachia.[1] It was located at the end of a small dirt road, starting near the military checkpoint at the southern side of Huntersville.

With the Test Your Metal update, the former site of this location was repurposed for the Foundation Outpost, where Event: Eviction Notice takes place.

Background[]

This location, once a pre-War military outpost, holds skeletal remains, a destroyed building, some crates, and the rusting remains of a vertibird that crashed after the bombs dropped.

Layout[]

The location consists of a large crater where a vertibird crashed on the area's northwest side. Near the crater itself is a small military camp with APCs and off-road vehicles parked around it. The site is highly radioactive and contains the ruins of what was once a large building, now completely obliterated. The vertibird is halfway sunken into the ground. Deathclaws or mega sloths may spawn in the vicinity of the location.

Notable loot[]

Appearances[]

The South Mountain nuke crater appeared only in Fallout 76. It was replaced with the Foundation Outpost with the Test Your Metal update.
