The South Mountain nuke crater is an unmarked location in the Savage Divide region of Appalachia.[1] It is located at the end of a small dirt road, which starts near the military checkpoint at the southern side of Huntersville.
Background
This location, once a pre-War military outpost, consists of skeletal remains, a destroyed building, some crates, and the rusting remains of a vertibird that crashed after the bombs dropped.
Layout
The location consists of a large crater where a vertibird crashed on the area's northwest side. Near the crater itself is a small military camp with APCs and off-road vehicles parked around it. The site is highly radioactive and contains the ruins of what was once a large building, now completely obliterated. The vertibird is halfway sunken into the ground. Deathclaws or mega sloths may spawn in the vicinity of the location.
Notable loot
- Disgruntled note - Note, on a cinderblock on the southern end of the crater.
- Hazmat suit - Next to the disgruntled note.
Appearances
The South Mountain nuke crater appears only in Fallout 76.
