For the sonic emitter that appear in Fallout: New Vegas, see Sonic emitter (weapon). |
The sonic emitter - robo-scorpion is a weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Background[]
During the development of the X-42 giant robo-scorpion, the scientists created an audio file for the sonic emitter from a recording of its atomic laser weapon. The holotape containing it was left in the X-42 robo-warfare facility, which post-War, became the "Forbidden Zone" controlled by Doctor Mobius where he made his robo-scorpion army to send against the Think Tank.
Characteristics[]
An energy-based pistol that weaponizes soundwaves to produce projectiles that inflict bonus damage against robots and power armor wearers. This variant of the weapon specifically inflicts a unique "critical strike explosion" effect. The projectile fired from this modulation travels noticeably slower than other modulations and it uses 3 energy cells per shot as opposed to 1 or 2 with the other variations.
The sonic emitter's oscilloscope takes on a yellow color when this audio file is uploaded. It is considered an improved holdout weapon.
Durability[]
The sonic emitter - robo-scorpion can fire a total of about 495 times using standard cells, the equivalent of 62 reloads, from full condition before breaking.
Ammunition type | Durability | |
---|---|---|
Shots | Reloads | |
Standard | 495 | 62 |

Locations[]
The audio file's holotape can be found in the Forbidden Zone on a table on a high catwalk opposite the entrance door, just before the door leading into Doctor Mobius' laboratory. The facility cannot be entered until all three technologies have been brought to Doctor Klein and Old World Blues has been started.
Notes[]
- As a one-handed Energy Weapon, the sonic emitter is affected by The Professional perk.
- As with all sonic emitter modulations save for "Revelation," it is necessary to install the Jukebox's personality chip before this remodulation can be applied to the sonic emitter.
- All cyberdogs are affected by the additional EMP damage done by this weapon.
