Effects of player actions

She is located in the same cell you are in when you wake up after the aliens abduct you. She can't tell you much, but does have a plan to escape: she suggests that the aliens want all the humans alive, so they'll just have to fight so one of them will die. After hitting each other for a while, two aliens will come to the cell door. At this point, Somah becomes a friendly character again and joins the player in their fight against the alien captors.

After reaching the Engineering Core and completing Not of This World, she can Repair your items (up to 100%!), insisting you pay her for her services. Additionally, Somah is the companion from the group able to assist you in destroying the generator in the Robot Assembly area.

Appearances

Somah appears only in the Fallout 3 add-on Mothership Zeta.

Notes

  • During your initial conversation with her it is possible to access a unique dialog option using the Mysterious Stranger perk.
  • After the final quest, she "leaves the ship" but is essentially removed, though she can be reactivated via console commands.
  • Somah's repair skill is based on the player's current level. It reaches 100 at player level 15, giving her the highest NPC repair skill in the entire game at that point.
  • When in the Engineering Core after she is able to repair items, you can throw Cryo Grenades at her and she will freeze, or shoot her with the Gauss Rifle (Operation Anchorage DLC). Shooting her with the Guass Rifle will take away considerably more health than a Cryo Grenade. This will make her drop to the ground where you can pickpocket the caps from her that you spent on her repairing your items. This makes looting the ship of weapons much more profitable, as you can have many 100% weapons without having a repair skill of 100. Elliot (The Soldier) makes Cryo grenades for you and she does not become hostile if you throw one at her or pickpocket her.
  • Also, If you have the Paralyzing Palm perk you can punch her a few times in VATS and she will fall to the ground allowing you to loot her of the caps you spent on repairs. This is a great option because she will not become hostile
  • In the Engineering Core, Elliot may ask her what has happened since he was abducted. When he shows distress at her news of the Great War, she tells him to "suck it up and deal with it like the rest of us."

Bugs

  • While you are fighting the hostile aliens on the ship's bridge, Somah goes down after a serious hit by the enemy ship. While she is down, you have an option to talk to her. When you select it, you will be able to loot her body (essentially pickpocketing her with a 100% chance of success and without karma loss).
  • After you've completed your spacewalk and passed through the second airlock, Somah and everyone else will join you (via teleporter). Sometimes Somah's forehead will be transparent and you can see only her eyes and hair.
  • Somah has been known to set off player placed mines, while the others do not appear to do so.
  • It is actually possible to learn of Somah's past by passing a speech check, using the Lady Killer perk or passing an easier speech check if you found recording 22. However, due to a bug, these conversation choices are not displayed in the game.
  • If you begin fighting her without her explaining her plan to you, the aliens will still interfere, but you will not be able to exit the holding cells.
