Somah is an abducted slaver being held captive in the holding cells aboard Mothership Zeta in 2277.
About
Somah is an African American dressed in a Merc Veteran Outfit. She is initially unarmed, but after the quest Not of this World she is armed with a Combat Shotgun. She was also abducted from the Capital Wasteland while investigating the distress call from the Alien Crash Site.

  +
Background
She is located in the same cell you are in when you wake up after the aliens abduct you. She can't tell you much, but does have a plan to escape. She suggests that the aliens want all the humans alive so all the Lone Wanderer and her need to do is to fake a fight, making it look like someone will die, causing the aliens to rush in and stop the Lone Wanderer and Somah, giving the Lone Wanderer and Somah a chance to escape. After they start spar fighting two aliens will come to the cell door and that's when she becomes a friendly AI again and she and the player beat down the aliens.

  +
Somah is one of the few wastelanders unfortunate enough to have stumbled across recon craft Theta and been abducted. Prior to this, she was a slaver working in conjunction with the slavers at Paradise Falls. She has a sweet, calm disposition that is undercut by a sadistic streak that shows through when she's under stress. She's used to being in charge, but is aware that she's out of her depth aboard the alien ship. Aside from providing supporting fire, she can repair any items that may need fixing.

Interactions with the player character
After getting to the Engineering Core and finishing Not of This World, she can repair your items with a Repair skill of 75, insisting you pay her for her services. She can also assist you in destroying the generator in the Robot Assembly. After the final quest, she leaves the ship. It is unknown if you can find her in the Wasteland afterwards, but she says it is unlikely she will ever see the Lone Wanderer again.

She can be heard referring to cages in Mothership Zeta being similar to the "sla- I mean, prisoners back home" which is a pretty clear suggestion to her actually being a slaver. There is other evidence to suggest this, such as her Merc Veteran Outfit (commonly worn by Slavers) and an unused test reference for her in the game files being set to use the Slaver character class. In the Alien Captive Recording 22 of Somah, she admits to working for a group that she was "just doing it for the caps". All other things collaborated indicates she worked as a slaver, or as a mercenary/mechanic for them.

*It is possible to exploit a bug to get all of your items repaired for free. Somah is an abducted slaver being held captive in the holding cells aboard Mothership Zeta in 2277.

Background

Somah is one of the few wastelanders unfortunate enough to have stumbled across recon craft Theta and been abducted. She's used to being in charge, but is aware that she's out of her depth aboard the alien ship. Aside from providing supporting fire, she can repair any items that may need fixing.[1]
