Solar armor is an armor set in Fallout 76, introduced in the Nuclear Winter update.
Characteristics[]
A full set of scout armor, completely overrun by strangler vines and other flora. When the full set is equipped, the player character gains the Solar set bonus, which regenerates health for them and nearby teammates while the player character's health is above 60%.[note 1] It is visually identical to thorn armor. The armor pieces cannot be dropped, sold, or traded, but they can be exchanged for legendary scrip at a legendary exchange machine.
The Vault 94 scout armor mask is a part of the set, however it is not required to obtain the set bonus.

Modifications for the Solar armor can not be crafted. Instead, loose mods are available for purchase from the MODUS armory terminal inside the Whitespring bunker, if Officer on Deck has been completed. They are applied to armor pieces via a workbench.

Variants[]
Solar armor shares model with Thorn armor. It also shares mods and uses the same base model (without vines) as urban scout armor, forest scout armor and Covert scout armor.
Legendary effects[]
- Solar armor body pieces can be crafted with legendary effects. All parts are crafted in the Armor workbench and always have 3 random legendary armor effects and unique solar set bonus.[note 1]
- Solar armor can't drop from events or legendary creatures.
- When Solar armor was added to the game it was possible to get all legendary effects except for unyielding, regenerating, chameleon, cloaking and improved sneaking.
- Since patch 1.3.0.23, Solar armor can correctly spawn with Unyielding effect.
- Patch 1.5.4.15 added other missing legendary effects and all new legendary effects, but removed weightless legendary effect. All Solar armor parts with weightless mod were, at the time, considered legacy.
- Patch 1.7.7.2 re-added the weightless legendary mod to both Solar and Thorn armor.
- It is not possible to re-roll legendary effects using legendary crafting feature.
Plans[]
- Plans for Solar armor parts can be bought from Regs or from Minerva for gold bullion.
- The individual crafting plans used to drop from vault raids in this order: left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg and chest piece.
Locations[]
Solar armor can be crafted at an armor workbench after learning the respective plans. It is not possible to get solar armor through other means.
Notes[]
- The reinforced torso mod was cut from the game.
- Before patch 1.0.3.23 solar set could be crafted from individual plans earned during Vault 94 vault raids.
- Armorer perk at rank two reduces Vault steel crafting cost, making it only 10 steel per armor piece, or 50 for full set.
Bugs[]
- Vault 94 scout armor mask is not considered a solar armor part for Sizzling Style and Funky Duds legendary perks, but is counted towards other scout armor sets.[verified]
- Solar armor pieces cannot be modified with any paints.[verified]
