Small bayonets provide a 50% damage increase to bashing attacks made by the weapon. On an otherwise unmodified pipe pistol, this increases the bash damage from 6 to 9. On a pipe weapon with a rifle stock, the bash damage increases from 12 to 18. Visually, it adds a long knife made from scrap metal to the weapon.
