Slocum's Joe is a location in the Commonwealth in 2287. It was a pre-War company throughout Boston that primarily sold coffee and donuts. It also serves as a secret entrance to The Switchboard.

Background

Slocum's Joe housed a secret pre-War facility called The Switchboard with two entrances: one from the basement and another from a sewer pipe covered in vegetation outside the city. Pre-War, it was used as a secret base of operation for the Defense Intelligence Agency. Post-War, The Railroad had taken control of it and used as their main headquarters until it was raided by The Institute. While doing Tradecraft for the Railroad, one may find Gen 1 and Gen 2 synths and two machine gun turrets. Fragmentation mines can be found outside regardless of whether the quest has been started or not.

Layout

It contains three floors: A top floor with kitchen, a first floor with another kitchen and a serving area for coffee, and the basement which is a separate area from the rest of the store. A bookshelf can be seen in Slocum Joe's basement containing an elevator to The Switchboard. It cannot be activated until Tradecraft is started.

Notable loot

  • There is a power core in the room to the left when entering the basement from the pipe or to the right when coming down the stairs. This is the room with the large Defense Intelligence Agency seal on the floor.
  • There is a U.S. Covert Operations Manual on a desk next to an expert terminal in the upper level of the basement room.
  • There are two Stealth Boys and a Mini Nuke inside the vault.

Appearances

Slocum's Joe only appears in Fallout 4.
