Sledgehammers are large melee weapons in Fallout 3 and are affected by the melee damage bonus from Strength.

Notes

  • The super sledge is an advanced - and more dangerous - weaponized version of the sledgehammer.

Locations

  • Megaton, Lucas Simms' house.
  • They are typical armament on melee-outfitted super mutant brutes, and can also be found in use by raiders.
  • One can be found on a shelf in Herbert "Daring" Dashwood's suite. Note that taking it counts as stealing.
  • Caleb Smith should be carrying or using one.

Variants

  • The Tenderizer - A slightly more powerful version of the sledgehammer. It was originally planned to have a unique object effect, reducing enemy DR by 5 per strike. This effect can be viewed in the G.E.C.K., but was cut from the final game.

The strongman's specialty makes an appearance in the wasteland, but its dull head does little damage to armored opponents. However, the sledgehammer is a great crowd-clearing weapon, giving you a moment to switch to a knife or firearms for finishing enemies on a one-by-one basis.

Locations

Fallout: New Vegas

A sledgehammer is seen being swung by a State of Utolbitha mutant in Black Mountain.[1]
