“I hope you don't mind your drink well-watered - they treat beer here like it's a potted plant.”— Tycho.
The Skum Pitt is a bar in Junktown owned by Neal, near Gizmo's Casino.
Background[]
The best bar in the town, the Skum Pitt is run by Neal and offers entertainment, good company, and drinks. Open each day, from 16:00 to 4:00.
Layout[]
A bar where food and drinks are served, and a back room with empty storage, a desk and Neal's bed.
Inhabitants[]
- Trish - Works as a waitress there. If the Vault Dweller enters after 18:00, they will be accosted by a rowdy Skulz gang member. Neal effectively responds to him bothering Trish with his ordnance.
- Tycho - The desert ranger and a recruitable NPC.
- Ismarc, a singer who can inform the Vault Dweller about new locations.
- Neal, the owner.
Related quests[]
- Steal Neal's Urn - Should the Vault Dweller get caught stealing Neal's urn (containing his late wife's ashes), Tycho, Neal, and Ismarc will turn hostile. This prevents access to one of the best NPC recruits in the game.
Appearances[]
The Skum Pitt appears in Fallout and is mentioned in the Fallout Bible 8.
Behind the scenes[]
- A location of the same name is found in Fallout 2. It is located in a fenced-off area in the western part of the Great Wanamingo Mine in Redding.
- Being the first bar in the game, the Skum Pitt may have been named after the first area of The Secret of Monkey Island, the Scumm Bar, which is, in turn, named after the famous SCUMM video game engine. The anagram stands for "Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion," as it was originally developed for 1987's Maniac Mansion. Developers at Interplay in the mid-1990s likely would have been aware of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion.
