Skeletons are world objects, the remains of deceased people and creatures in Fallout 76.
Background[]
The bones of creatures and human beings, found in various places across Appalachia.
Characteristics[]
Skeletons cannot be interacted with or searched. Some are wearing specific outfits, such as Vault 76 jumpsuit. Skeletons can be moved by nearby explosions, or by walking into them. Human skeletons are found commonly throughout the region, wherever people have died or been disposed of.
Named skeletons[]
This list does not mean these skeletons have names when interacted with, but rather that they are the remains of people who can be identified through location, notes, or other context.

Creature bones[]
The skeletons of a large aquatic creature are found throughout Appalachia. For example, large bones have been unearthed near the blade of the Rockhound in the Ash Heap, and some are laid out on top of a structure at the Crater. A specimen can be seen at the Forbidden digsite. They are especially common at sites of cultist activity including the Big Maw, inside the Hopewell Cave, and near the Interloper inside of Lucky Hole Mine. The strange flat skulls of these creatures (minus the two large appendages) are commonly used to construct an effigy of the Mothman.
One is exhibited at the Aquarium of the Atlantic, in a display apparently assembled before the War, suggesting the remains do not belong to a post-War mutant creature, but something ancient.
Notes[]
At Johnson's Acre, three skeletons can be found on some spike board traps, which are connected to dynamite plungers. Interacting with the plungers catapults the skeletons off into the distance.
Behind the scenes[]
In the real world, decay equates to skeletons disintegrating as opposed to maintaining their shape. In-game, they are seen posed and intact as a gameplay mechanic utilized to aid in storytelling.
