Shroud Manor is an obtainable apartment in Cambridge in the Fallout 4 Creation Club content "Shroud Manor."

Background[]

This Georgian-style manor house was owned by Louie Trevisani,[1] a mob boss whose public image was that of a wealthy collector of The Silver Shroud merchandise.[2] This was not just a masquerade, though, as Trevisani was a genuine fan of the Silver Shroud, decorating the manor with various Shroud paraphernalia[3] and even including counterfeit Shroud merchandise as one of his criminal endeavors.[4]

After a failed assassination attempt in May 2077,[5] Trevisani hired R. Jameson & Sons Carpentry off the books to construct a series of hidden panic rooms throughout the manor, including an entire private underground vault and fallout shelter,[1][6] then had them killed to cover his tracks.[7] These panic rooms proved effective when the mobsters were raided by the police in September, having been tipped off about the carpenters' murder:[8] Trevisani had recently begun seeing a woman named Candy who was secretly an undercover police officer trying to get him to incriminate himself.[6] Trevisani was so smitten by Candy that, despite his subordinates' reservations, he took her into his private vault the week before the Great War intending to propose to her and consummate their engagement, giving them orders to leave him alone no matter the circumstance.[9]

Things did not work out the way Trevisani expected, and he was killed by Candy after he confessed his crimes and then "got rough," but she was forced to stay inside the vault because Trevisani's men were still outside, unaware of their boss' death.[10] This inadvertently saved Candy's life when the Great War struck, with the others inside the manor dying from radiation poisoning; Candy was also exposed, but became a ghoul instead of dying.[11] Candy later discovered that her superiors in the police had intended for her to be a sacrificial lamb, which disgusted her enough to renounce the law. As she continued to live in the manor, she eventually connected with Trevisani's surviving associates and used them to forge a new crime syndicate with herself as the boss.[12] As of 2287, the manor is still occupied by Candy and her Triggermen subordinates.

Layout[]

Shroud Manor is unlocked during the quest Shrouded Manor. It has two entrances on the first floor, a front and back door, as well as an additional roof entrance (but there's no other way up to the roof without entering the manor first). At first glance, the manor only has two floors, with the first floor containing a foyer, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, guest bedroom, living room, and lounge. The second floor can be reached via a main staircase in the foyer or a different staircase in the lounge, with a master bedroom (made up of a bedroom and a living room), bathroom, pool table room, and library.

However, there are also several secret rooms hidden behind interactable bookshelves. Louie Trevisani's office can be found hidden between the lounge and living room; the terminal in his office will give the miscellaneous quest Silver like the Shroud when the second-to-last entry is read. On the second floor, a bookcase near the couch in the stairwell leads up to a hidden attic section with various supplies, such as chems, ballistic fiber, and two ballistic weave clothing mods. A different set of bookcases between the master living room and pool room leads to a different hidden attic where a makeshift shooting range is set up.

The most prominent secret area inside the manor is a large basement and fallout shelter hidden behind a bookcase in the main foyer. Two Triggermen will spawn and attack upon entering the basement. The basement contains a chemistry station and the workshop for Shroud Manor. In the back of the basement, a staircase leads up into a small room with two terminals, while the room underneath has Tony Suiza's terminal and connects to the fallout shelter, which requires the Shroud Manor terminal password to unlock. Inside the shelter, the first room has a large amount of pre-War money and gold bars. The rest is a living space with kitchen, bed, and bathroom, where Candy can be found.

Notable loot[]

Notes[]

  • Shroud Manor is similar to Home Plate in that it has a workshop and allows scrapping and storage of items within, but it cannot be linked to a supply line, nor can settlers be recruited nor assigned to it as a residence, and food and water cannot be harvested. While many items inside can be stored and scapped, building certain items will require the Sole Survivor to carry in components from another settlement.
  • Unlike Home Plate, however, fast travel from and to the interior of the manor is not allowed.
  • The roof overlooks the Cambridge Police Station. If the quest Fire Support has not been finished, it's possible to fire on some of the attacking ghouls from this location. Conversely, if the Brotherhood of Steel is hostile, the Sole Survivor can come under attack.
