The Shishkebab is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[]

A one-handed bladed melee weapon that can set enemies on fire. Although appearing to run on fuel from the tank mounted on the player character's back, no resource is required nor consumed in order to use the weapon.

Visually, the weapon is exactly the same as its counterpart in Fallout 3, being a rusted lawnmover blade attached to a grip constructed out of pipes and a back-mounted motorcycle engine that presumably supplies the oil that gives it its fiery qualities.

Special attack[]

The Shishkebab has a special Back Slash attack that does 70% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 6 fewer action points (requires a Melee skill of 50).

Note: Melee weapons do double normal damage in V.A.T.S.

It is possible to execute Back Slash outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.

Durability[]

The shishkebab can successfully strike about 2495 times from full condition before breaking.

Notes[]

  • When the Shishkebab is equipped, a protective glove appears on the right hand of the player and their companions to guard against the blade's flames.
  • While the weapon primarily deals fire damage, one can still use poisons with it and the damage over time from the applied poison stacks with the fire damage.
    • Combining the Pyromaniac perk and a Shishkebab coated with bleak venom allows it to become one of the most damaging melee weapons in the game.
  • As it is constantly on fire, the weapon when drawn will ignite flammable gas. The same applies if a companion has it equipped.
  • Though all the components exist in-game, the weapon cannot be crafted like it could in Fallout 3. The same applies to all other previously crafted weapons from Fallout 3, with the exception of the bottlecap mine.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The weapon name is taken from shish kebab, a traditional Turkish dish consisting of meat threaded on a skewer and grilled.
  • As seen in the gallery down below, the Shishkebab in Fallout 3 was meant to have a hose connected to its motorcycle engine. However, this was never programmed into the graphics engine in the final cut of the game. This would also carry over into Fallout: New Vegas.

Bugs[]

  • Xbox 360Xbox 360 Sometimes, when enemies hold it, it is invisible.[verified]
