Shantou (Chinese: 汕头) was a coastal city in Guangdong Province China, where American troops had been fighting during the Sino-American War.
Background
The city was mentioned in a Boston Bugle article titled "China Showdown - the Atomic Ultimatum." According to the article, the United States Armed Forces was fighting here "on our enemy's doorstep" as part of the Sino-American War.[1]
