Shanghai (Chinese: 上海) is a coastal city in China, located at the mouth of the Yangtze River.
Background[]
One of the largest cities in China, Shanghai was the site of heavy fighting during the Sino-American War. Despite lying on the coast, the city stubbornly resisted the American invasion and remained contested as late as January 2077,[1] three years after the American invasion of mainland China began. The United States Marine Corps fought in the city, redeployed from Nanjing, which fell before Shanghai despite being located much further inland.[2]
Notes[]
- "Shanghai Sally" was the name given to an alleged Chinese spy who was killed attempting to flee the country, though in reality was just a cover story concocted by the government to hide the theft of US gold reserves by Kathryn Montgomery.[3]
- The city makes an appearance in the "Vault Boy in China" ad for Fallout Shelter Online.
Appearances[]
Shanghai is mentioned in the Fallout 3 add-on Operation: Anchorage, the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Honest Hearts, Fallout 76, introduced in the Wastelanders update, and Fallout Shelter Online.
Behind the scenes[]
Shanghai is based on the real world location of Shanghai, located in the People's Republic of China.
