This page is about a character in Fallout 3. For the rank, see Brotherhood of Steel ranks#Scribes. |
Scribes are members of the Brotherhood of Steel in 2277.
Background[]
Scribes are tasked with creating and keeping records of the technology used by the Brotherhood. The attitude of many scribes in the Brotherhood can be described as techno-centric. While a great number study history and culture, the majority of scribes focus their studies on subjects related to the acquisition, repair, or creation of technology. Scribe Rothchild is the head scribe of the Brotherhood of Steel, and several other scribes work in the Citadel.
Orders[]
The Capital Wasteland Brotherhood scribes at the Citadel are separated into three Orders; the Order of the Sword, the Order of the Shield, and the Order of the Quill. The Order of the Sword, led by Scribe Peabody, is responsible for weapons research. The Order of the Shield, led by Scribe Bowditch, is responsible for armor research. The Order of the Quill, led by Scribe Jameson, is tasked with chronicling everything of a historical nature, including the recovery of intact pre-War books and the maintenance of the Brotherhood's scrolls and fallen brothers' holotags.

Bugs[]
Killing a scribe will cause only the scribes to turn hostile towards the player, not the paladins. After a few days, the body will disappear and the scribes will become neutral once more. Killing a scribe will still result in losing Karma.[verified]
