Santa Monica was a pre-War city in Los Angeles County, California which appears in the Fallout TV series.
Background[]
Before the Great War, Santa Monica was a famous tourist destination mostly for the Santa Monica Pier, which is largely still standing by 2296. It was also the home to Vault 33, which was constructed just south of the Santa Monica Pier in a bunker-like building along the coast.
Appearances[]
Santa Monica appears in the Fallout television series, although the area corresponding to it is visible on the first Fallout game's world map as well.
Behind the scenes[]
The Santa Monica Pier was filmed at Elizabeth Bay, Namibia, a ghost town and former diamond mine. Visual effects were used to add the pier's Ferris wheel and roller coaster, as well as the Malibu Mountains in the background, but everything else in the shots was practical.[1]
