Sammael is the leader of Adytum scavengers, found at the aforementioned settlement in Fallout.

Background[]

A grungy man wearing dark blue clothing,[1] Sammael leads the scavengers[2] picking through the Boneyard for Adytum after night falls and the dangers stalking its streets are less likely to spot them. All of his scavengers are very good at hiding and stealth. Sammael hand-picks prospective candidates to see if they have what it takes: All they have to do is hide somewhere in Adytum during daytime and if Sammael can't find them within an hour, they can join the next scavenger party.[3]

The parties bring back useful items and information, making them an essential source of spare parts and other rare goods for the settlement.[4] It's a dangerous line of work, due to the hazards present in the ruins of the city.[5] Not everyone always comes back, and the last casualty was very recent: He sent out a scavenger to find parts for Miles' hydroponic farms, but he lost all contact after receiving a transmission that he was returning with the parts.[6] He was actually slain by deathclaws - monsters well known to Sammael and other scavengers. He's heard rumors of a nest, but has never been able to verify them.[7]

In fact, he hears a lot of things. Sammael knows the Boneyard well and has traveled all over the city. He has traveled as far south as the Cathedral and has seen the nightkin, and is also aware that the building was erected over an old Vault (or rather, the technology demonstrator) Adytum's founders emerged from.[8] He's also aware of the Gun Runners, though he hasn't explored much there due to the deathclaws,[9] and the Followers. He considers their idea of peace and tolerance nice, but impractical in the wasteland.[10] Blades are the only people he pities, though he notes they do get by overall.[11]
