Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?

Rough guards are mercenaries hired by Decker in 2161.[1]

There are four rough guards in a house immediately to the Vault Dweller's right when they enter Old Town. These guards protect a house where Decker, the local crime boss, has a Brotherhood of Steel initiate held hostage.

Rescue Initiate from the Hub: To reach the initiate, the rough guards need to be killed.

Other interactionsEdit

All four rough guards will become hostile upon seeing the Vault Dweller, and will immediately enter combat, regardless of the their current standing with Decker. Defeating all four guards will allow the Vault Dweller to rescue the initiate they were guarding, in order to complete a quest for the BoS.

Killing the rough guards and freeing the initiate will not affect Decker's disposition towards the Vault Dweller, despite their association with him.

Rough guards appear only in the original Fallout.

Behind the scenesEdit

The quote "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" is a reference to the Joker saying it to Batman in the 1989 Batman movie Batman, just before he shoots him in his Wayne mansion.
