Robert "Rob" Owen Lee is a developer who worked at Obsidian Entertainment on Fallout: New Vegas as an area designer.

Career[]

Work on the Fallout series[]

Lee was responsible for designing and implementing various locations in-game as an area designer. He worked on Camp Guardian and Guardian Peak (including the unmarked quest Help for Halford),[1] Nellis Air Force Base and content for the Boomers alongside Akil Hooper, Camp McCarran alongside Eric Fenstermaker, Cottonwood Cove, as well as Freeside alongside Jesse Farrell and Scott Everts.[2]

Specifically with Freeside, Lee designed the characters of Mick, Ralph and Fisto,[2][3] which he cited as some of his favorite design work on the game.[2] Lee created the quest Wang Dang Atomic Tango and the characters in it,[4][5] as well as Debt Collector and its characters.[6] His work on Freeside also extended to characters at the Atomic Wrangler and Old Mormon Fort.[6] He also co-designed the weapon Recompense of the Fallen, found at Cottonwood Cove, alongside Denise McMurry and Sydney Wolfram; the three of them split a $100 prize from Chris Avellone for creating the weapon.[2] He also may have been responsible for setting up the encounters at the sacked caravans found during Heartache by the Number.[7]

For the game's add-ons, Lee first suggested the name Dead Money, and worked on the boss fights against Dog and God (Put the Beast Down) and Christine Royce (Last Luxuries) in that add-on, as well as systems and scripting for ghost people.[2][8] Although he did not work on Honest Hearts, as he was part of the team supporting the base game post-launch, he helped with pre-production for Old World Blues,[2] and was responsible for the X-13 research facility,[9] including designing the Stealth suit Mk II. His main responsibility on Lonesome Road was placing and balancing loot, in addition to scripting and polish work.[2]

Other work[]

Lee worked at Obsidian Entertainment from 2008 to 2012, and again from 2014 to 2017, contributing to games such as South Park: The Stick of Truth and The Outer Worlds. Between those two periods, from 2012 to 2013, he worked at ZeniMax Online Studios on The Elder Scrolls Online.
