On Fallout 2, Hertenstein contributed to random encounters, Arroyo, Redding, the Enclave, Mariposa Military Base, and the Sierra Army Depot.[1] The Vault City designer notes include credit to Hertenstein and Dan Spitzley for the scripting of Vault City.[2]

Hertenstein previously worked on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, another Interplay game, in scripting.
