For an overview of Ripper models, see Ripper (weapon). For the Gun Runners' Arsenal version of this weapon, see Ripper (GRA). |
The Ripper is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics
A one-handed fully automatic bladed melee weapon that can be used to inflict continuous damage against a target by holding down the 'attack' button. Its primary element is the ability to ignore an enemy's Damage Resistance and Damage Threshold when attacking them, similar to the chainsaw.
Special attack
The Ripper has a special Long Cut attack that does 50% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 20 less action points (requires a Melee skill of 50).
Legend | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
- Type of attack | - Skill required | |||
- Damage per attack in V.A.T.S. | - Action point cost | |||
- Damage per action point | - Additional effects |
Normal | 0 | 100 | 65 | 1.54 |
Long Cut | 50 | 50 | 45 | 1.11 |
- Note: Melee weapons do double normal damage in V.A.T.S.
It is not possible to execute Long Cut outside of V.A.T.S. as power attacks do not apply to continuously damaging melee weapons, such as the chainsaw.
Durability
The Ripper can successfully strike about 5,995 times from full condition before breaking.
Variants
- Ripper - the customizable variant added with the Gun Runners' Arsenal add-on.
- Arcade Gannon's Ripper - a unique non-playable variant used by Arcade Gannon.
