*Rippers do more damage in one action in VATS than in normal combat. What I mean is the game considers it to be '''one slice''' in VATS (which is more like 3-4 hits outside of VATS). outside-of-VATS attacks do less damage per hit and you lose your hidden status in that one hit.

*A random Ripper can be found in your inventory. It is unknown how it gets there and it cannot be put into another container or picked back up if dropped. (I found that it is given to you by Arcade Gannon right before he leaves and gives you two stimpacks, along with the ripper. It seems like the same one he uses and would thus explain why it cannot be picked back up as no follower weapons can be picked up once dropped.)

The ripper is a weapon in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics

Good for a low-mid level melee player. The beauty of the ripper is that the attack button can be held down and it will dismember anything in front of the player. This makes it very good for large hordes or large, slow creatures

Locations

Appearances

The ripper appears in Fallout: New Vegas.
