Rink is a character in the Fallout TV series.

Background[]

Javin and Rink are a pair of wastelanders in the Los Angeles area around 2296. They are apparently cannibals who try to fool their victims by pretending to be unarmed and then attacking when they get near. They use rotten teeth as ammunition.

Fallout TV series[]

The Past[]

Javin and Rink meet Lucy MacLean and Maximus at the opposite end of a railway bridge while the latter two are near the ruins of Shady Sands, tracking Thaddeus. They initially pretend to be cautious travelers, calling out to Lucy and Maximus and asking whether or not they are armed. Lucy does not think anything more of it, but Maximus is correctly suspicious, seeing that Javin and Rink are hiding their own weapons. Maximus offers to stay there and let them pass the bridge first, but Javin claims that this is a trap. With the standoff leading nowhere, Lucy suggests they all calm down and pass on opposite sides of the bridge with their hands raised to show they are non-hostile. Maximus, Javin, and Rink all agree, grudgingly.

Once they reach the center of the bridge, almost passing each other, Javin and Rink act as if they are sizing up their two opponents. They quickly reveal their true natures, pulling out pistols and firing on Lucy and Maximus. However, they are quickly killed by Maximus, who grabs Lucy's 10mm pistol from her holster and shoots Rink through the neck, killing her instantly. Javin manages to shoot Maximus in the left arm but is killed by him right after with a shot to the head. Afterward, Maximus finds several large knives strapped to the inside of Rink's coat, leading him to conclude that she and Javin are cannibals. Maximus takes Rink's rimfire pistol with him as he and Lucy leave.

Notes[]

  • Maximus calls Rink and Javin fiends, which he clarifies to mean "people who eat people". The term is not known to have any connection with the Fiends raider gang from Fallout: New Vegas.

Notable quotes[]

  • "Okay, we're walking towards you." – To Lucy and Maximus

Behind the scenes[]

Cricket (Fallout 4)

Cricket in Fallout 4

Rink's appearance is based off that of Cricket from Fallout 4. This was explicitly intended as an Easter egg by Michael Harvey, the makeup department head for the TV show, who noted it was the only material that he copied exactly from the games (which Jonathan Nolan had said not to do; Harvey said that Nolan did not notice the resemblance).[1]

Appearances[]

Rink appears only in the Fallout TV series episode "The Past."
