Many can still be found across New California, with limited edition versions being particularly prized. Despite their limited combat utility owing to a low-power projectile, skilled marksmen have been known to use them for blinding enemies with shots to the eyes.
In real life, Red Ryder is the name of a comic strip cowboy character that inspired a lever-action BB rifle of the same name by Daisy Outdoor Products, manufactured from 1940 to the present day. This particular model of BB gun was made famous by the 1983 film A Christmas Story, in which protagonist Ralphie Parker requests one for Christmas and is repeatedly warned that he'll "shoot [his] eye out."
