The Reavers were a raider gang active in Appalachia prior to 2102.
Background[]
At some point prior to 2102, the Reavers travelled south through Appalachia, raiding and looting locations along the way. A forward scout for the Reavers explored Helvetia and found the town to be empty, recommending that the rest of the gang follow the river south towards Summersville.[1]

The Reavers were indirectly responsible for the abandonment of Helvetia, as the townspeople had been warned by a fleeing trader that the Reavers would soon reach their town. The settlement of Helvetia had already been "on the brink," however, and they simply moved to a new outpost constructed nearby, Horizon's Rest. The holotape which outlines this specific connection, Leaving Helvetia, is not implemented in-game, but this story is alluded to by other existing holotapes.[1][2]
