The Ranger vest outfit is a piece of clothing in Fallout: New Vegas.

Characteristics[]

When equipped, the outfit does not grant any Damage Threshold and has no additional effects. It can be repaired with other instances of itself, the Ranger casual outfit, Ranger red scarf outfit, and, with the Jury Rigging perk, both light armor and other pieces in the "clothing" category.

The outfit is similar to the red scarf variant, consisting of a grey, long-sleeved shirt with a red-colored scarf around the neck and a leather strap running over the left shoulder, differed by removing the bandolier and including a brown leather vest over the shirt. It is paired with tan duster pants secured by a belt with a bull icon buckle, brown boots, and black gloves.

Notes[]

Despite none of the Ranger outfits being considered NCR faction armor, wearing any variant will occasionally cause NCR troopers to mistake the player character for a Ranger, typically only with a neutral or positive NCR reputation (achieving an Idolized reputation prevents this, and their dialogue will reflect the player character's higher status). This will not influence quests or faction standing, nor dialogue from any major NPCs, and only serves to change passing dialogue with generic NCR troopers.

Bugs[]

PCPC Xbox 360Xbox 360 When in first-person while wearing the outfit and equipping a one handed firearm when the player character looks down, the outfit comes into view if the player character is walking forward. This also happens with Daniel's outfit. [verified]
