The proton axe is a weapon in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Old World Blues.
Characteristics[]
A two-handed "bladed" melee weapon that deals electrical damage as well as bonus damage against robots and non-player characters who wear power armor. It can be repaired with other proton axes as well as the less expensive proton throwing axe.
Visually, it resembles a long axe with a futuristic style that includes a glowing blue blade of electrical energy at its head and on the other side, two capacitors which also share the same blue electric current.
Special attack[]
The proton axe has a special Proton Electrocutioner attack that does 200% damage in V.A.T.S. at the cost of 13 more action points (requires a Melee skill of 50).

It is possible to execute Proton Electrocutioner outside of V.A.T.S. (without the required Melee skill of 50 to perform the move) by initiating a power attack (hold attack button) while moving forward.
