Prior to the release of the Wastelanders update, the Vault Dwellers were tasked with making Appalachia a cleaner and safer place to live for its new arrivals. Any player character that took part in Project Clean Appalachia received rewards once the community as a whole completed certain tasks and goals. The event was accompanied by Atomic Shop sales and a weekly free item.
