| For the preacher at Seward Square in Fallout 3, see The Preacher. |
The preacher is a man who can be randomly encountered in the Commonwealth in 2287.
He can be found conducting a Commonwealth Funeral alongside three settler mourners; together, they are burying a fourth individual named Blake.
Background[]
In the somber ceremony he is officiating, the preacher oversees the burial of Blake, whom the preacher says is committed to the earth. The preacher prays that Blake find peace with the Lord. He asks the other settlers, including Marcus, to say a few words about Blake before moving on.[1]

Behind the scenes[]
- The preacher's editor ID (REObjectRJ02_Preacher) indicates that he and his random encounter were created by level designer Ryan Jenkins.
- Although it is not directly stated that the preacher is conducting a Christian ceremony, he prays that Blake find peace with the Lord, a common Christian phrasing. The preacher also says "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust," which is derived from the Christian book The Order for The Burial of the Dead.
