“You have received the specialized training needed to move in any form of Power Armor.”— In-game description
Power Armor Training is a perk in Fallout 3. It allows the player character to equip and use power armor.
Obtaining[]
- During Picking Up the Trail, request permission for power armor training from Elder Lyons. Afterward, speak to Paladin Gunny in the Bailey (courtyard) of the Citadel to receive the perk.[1]
- Automatically gained upon completing The American Dream.
- Automatically gained upon completing the Anchorage Reclamation simulation (Operation: Anchorage).
Bugs[]
It is possible to obtain the perk without completing any quests past Escape! There is a mapping bug northwest of the entrance to the Citadel on the Arlington Bridge (The only bridge that fully crosses the Potomac River). There are a few mounds of rubble that one needs to get to the top. The "bald" mound of rubble allows one to fall in, once under the map, working the way to the Citadel by going left when possible. See it in action here.

Gunny: "Heard you were coming. Yeah, I can train you. But don’t ask me to like it. My Initiates sweat blood, and you just get a free pass? Anyway... you ready for this? Now look, to wear Power Armor, first thing you need to do is relax your muscles. Let the suit do the work. Okay? Now, you... ...okay. You got all that? I think you know enough now to at least move around in Power Armor without killing yourself. That’s something, right? God help us all."
