The Pimp-Boy 3 Billion is a unique piece of clothing in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
The Pimp-Boy 3 Billion is a standard Pip-Boy 3000 that has been "pimped out" with what appears to be gold and silver plating as well as encrusted diamonds. Once received, the Courier automatically replaces the standard Pip-Boy 3000 with the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion. To switch back to the original Pip-Boy, they can simply talk to Mick about it.
Location[]
The Pimp-Boy 3 Billion can be obtained from Mick of Mick & Ralph's as part of an unmarked quest to determine why the Omertas (of the Gomorrah casino) have stopped purchasing weapons from him. This is initiated by talking to Mick, asking about their business, then about what their deal is with the Omertas, at any time prior to completing How Little We Know. Mick will ask the Courier to keep him posted if they hear anything, and the Courier will receive a note outlining Mick's request, Omertas stopped buying from Mick. The Courier must then progress in How Little We Know.
Side with the Omerta bosses[]
To get the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion by siding with Nero and Big Sal, the quest must first be fully completed. Afterwards, the Courier can convince Big Sal to buy guns from Mick again by passing a Speech 50 check. This will open a dialogue option to tell Mick, "Good news. The Omertas say they'll buy arms from you again." Mick will then show his appreciation by rewarding the Courier with the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion.
For this path, it is also necessary to have heard about Mick's business situation beforehand. However, this can actually be done after completing How Little We Know, since the check with Big Sal will still be available afterwards.
Nero was intended to have a similar dialogue option, but it was cut; see below for an explanation.
Side with Cachino[]
If siding with Cachino, the only way to get the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion is to free Troike from his contract, and not any other method of getting his help. This is the only step needed to get the Pimp-Boy; it is not necessary to fully complete How Little We Know on this path. This involves talking to Big Sal, either when asking to get Troike out of his contract or when asking about his supposed incident with a dead hooker, and then:
- Paying 300 caps to buy out Troike's contract.
- Passing a Speech 53 check to convince Big Sal that Troike is too unstable.
- Passing a Barter 45 check, lying that Troike will try to negotiate some lower weapon prices for the Omertas on his own.
Make sure to do this instead of getting the Troike blackmail note or pressuring Troike into helping with the Speech 80 check, as these will both make Big Sal's dialogue unavailable, making the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion impossible to get.
Once any of these three options is passed, Mick's "good news" dialogue will become available; it is not necessary to do anything else in the quest. From there, Mick will reward the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion just like he does in the other path. Unlike in the other path, it is not necessary to have talked to Mick before starting How Little We Know.
Notes[]
- With the Wild Wasteland trait, funk music will be played upon equipping the Pimp-Boy, and the Wild Wasteland indicator will appear in the top left hand of the screen. The music can be heard again repeatedly by simply going back to Mick and swapping it back for the old Pip-Boy.
- While the original Pip-Boy 3000's screen is green (the default HUD and Pip-Boy color in Fallout 3) when viewed in third person, the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion's screen is amber (the default HUD and Pip-Boy color in New Vegas).
- The Pimp-Boy 3 Billion and Pip-Boy 3000 can be swapped to and from whenever speaking to Mick.
- With a bad reputation in Freeside, Mick and Ralph will refuse to talk to you, making it impossible to get the Pip-Boy 3000 back or vice versa.
- The Pimp-Boy can still be obtained after killing Omertas, so you can kill them first, then talk to Mick and after ending the conversation with Mick, ask him about business again and he will give you the option to upgrade the Pip-Boy, but he won't mention it first.
- Alternatively, on PC, the Pimp-Boy can be added using the console command player.additem 11bacb 1 and then player.equipitem 11bacb. To revert to the old Pip-Boy enter player.equipitem 15038 (for the Pip-Boy 3000), then player.equipitem 25b83 (for the glove).
- A variant of the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion, a skin for the Pip-Boy 2000 Mark VI known instead as the Pimp-Boy 2 Billion, was implemented as a reward unlocked during Blood x Rust, the twenty-third in-game season in Fallout 76, introduced in the Burning Springs update.
Behind the scenes[]
Justin Bell was responsible for creating and implementing the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion's musical sound effect.[1]

Cut content[]
The process of obtaining the Pimp-Boy originally had more integration with How Little We Know. There are three unused objectives, indices 35, 40, and 45, in that quest which read:
- (Optional) Let Mick and Ralp know why the Omertas stopped buying their guns.
- (Optional) Help Mick and Ralph get Omerta business again.
- Let Mick and Ralph know the Omertas have room in their budget to buy guns from them again.
Objective 35 is fully unused by the game; presumably, it would have been displayed after finding out about the Omertas' Racket. With objective 35 active, it would be possible to go back to Mick and tell him about the Omertas' smuggling:
- The Courier: "I think I figured out why the Omertas stopped buying."
- Mick: "Really? What did you learn?"
- "They found a way to smuggle guns in at a lower price."
- "Well, that would explain why they stopped buying. Them not telling me why leads me to think I'd rather not know the particulars. Thanks for digging that up for me. If there is any way you could convince them to reestablish, I have a few extra special items you can have. They're too pricey for anyone around here to afford, but getting the Omerta's sales back would be a worthy trade."
This would mark objective 35 as completed and display objective 40. Objective 40 would allow the Courier to try to convince Nero to buy guns from Mick and Ralph again by passing a Speech 50 check, very similarly to the implemented Speech check with Big Sal. Passing either check would complete objective 40 and display objective 45, telling the Courier to return to Mick with the good news. This entire sequence is still implemented, but simply disabled due to objective 35 not being used. The sequence can be triggered by enabling objective 35 via the console command setobjectivedisplayed VMS21 35 1.
- Big Sal's check is conditioned based on a quest variable, iMickGuns, set by Mick telling the Courier about his situation at the start, as well as completing How Little We Know, so it still appears while Nero's does not.
- Nero's check is not conditioned by the quest being completed, so Nero's check would become available even if the player is helping Cachino. It also does not depend on the variable iMickGuns, so it would be available even if the player had never learned about Mick's situation. However, it also does not set that variable to the proper stage upon success, so it cannot be used to get the reward from Mick even if it is enabled via the console command.

Bugs[]
The bugged angle at which a female character holds the Pimp-Boy.
- Female characters will hold the Pimp-Boy at an angle, due to the item not having a separate mesh specified for female wearers.[verified]
- Sometimes when placing the map marker, the map will disappear leaving only the location markers. Fix by exiting the Pimp-Boy and returning. This can also happen with the default Pip-Boy if Old World Blues is installed.[verified]
- Sometimes, after completing the How Little We Know quest, Mick cannot be told that the Omertas are buying his weapons again. To work around this, before telling Troike to destroy the weapons, have his contract destroyed by talking to Big Sal before completing the quest. Then tell Troike he is free and then tell him to destroy the guns. Finish the quest by killing the bosses and return to Mick. Even though he mentions that the Omertas won't buy from him anymore the speech option is there indicating they will, which gives you the Pimp-Boy.[verified]
- Adding the Pimp-Boy through the console commands' add/equip method you can then go to Mick & Ralph's and the option to switch back to the old Pip-Boy is there. This bypasses the speech glitch and allows you to switch Pip-Boys as normal.[verified]
- The Pimp-Boy 3 Billion is often much brighter or much darker than the outside light level. At night time, the Pimp-Boy will sometimes be as bright as day, and vice versa. This can be fixed by turning in a different direction from the sun or moon and it will go back to normal.[verified]
- Sometimes when the Pimp-boy 3 Billion light is off, it still shows the glow from it but doesn't account for light and still causes enemies to see you while sneaking.[verified]
- The knob controlling the 5 sub-menus of the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion is "broken", being a notch off and turning differently or even not working at all in the case of PS3 and a female character.[verified]
- The wheel used to go up and down in the menus is stuck in its place, and won't turn when prompted.[verified]
- Sometimes after finishing the quest "How Little We know", Mick will not give you the option to switch to the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion. The only way to fix this for the console versions is to make a save before you start the quest and hope for the best. On pc you can "fix" this by typing in "player.additem 11bacb 1" into the console, then go to Mick and ask him to switch your Pip-Boy 3000 to the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion. After you've switched to the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion, you can still switch back.[verified]
