Pete Hines is a developer who previously served as senior vice president of global marketing & communications, as well as the head of publishing, at Bethesda Softworks. He was in charge of public relations and marketing of games published by Bethesda, and was credited on Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.
Career[]
Hines was recruited to Bethesda Softworks' marketing department in 1999. He was responsible for writing game manuals as well as being in charge of all information that is released to the public, including press releases, web and blog updates, and announcement posts on the forums. He was frequently interviewed by the press and gave demonstrations of in-development games to industry organizations and (such as at PAX) the wider public. Hines explained that his previous journalistic experience was useful because "it gives you the chance to show that you know about games, can break down why a game is good, or isn't, and make good arguments and give compelling reasons."[1]
Hines retired in October 2023 after 24 years at Bethesda Softworks.[2]
