"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Behind the scenes[]

As noted in its title, this note is an excerpt from the poem "Ozymandias" by Percy Bysshe Shelley, specifically its last five lines. Shelley has been referenced elsewhere in the Fallout series, most prominently in the Bysshe Company which is named for him, and this poem has also been referenced by the Bysshe Company's USS Ozymandias.

  • The poem "Ozymandias" is commonly interpreted as a commentary on pride, hubris, and the fall of power over time. The note's placement at Dark Hollow Manor would suggest it to be alluding to the fall of the Stolz family.
