Owen's Lake, also spelled Owens Lake, is a mentioned-only location in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[]

Said to be located in eastern New California, west of New Vegas, the dried-up lakebed was the staging ground for many raider attacks throughout the Sierra Nevada region of California. Said attacks were commonplace until Army forces of the New California Republic arrived in the region and drove off the raider tribes.[1] According to Chief Hanlon, the lake has turned to mud and dust by 2281 due to negligent maintenance or excessive draining.[2]

Appearances[]

Owen's Lake is mentioned only in Fallout: New Vegas.

  1. Aaron Kimball: "And at Owen's Lake, we made true on our promise, driving out the raider tribes to establish a lasting peace in the eastern Sierra Nevadas."
    (Kimball's dialogue)
  2. Hanlon: "Back west, you don't see too many of these. Lakes, I mean. Natural or man-made. Any kind, really. We neglected the dams or pumped all the water out a long time ago. Owens, Isabella, the San Luis. Drained the aquifers of everything they had. Just a lot of mud and dust now. It's a different feeling, watching the sun come up over the water. Takes some getting used to."
