Behind the scenes

The quest is based on the poem Beowulf, which describes how Beowulf comes to the aid of Hrothgar, king of the Danes, whose mead hall is under attack by a monster named Grendel. The attack is predicated on the noise the Danes were making. Grendel kills many Danes, causing the rest to flee. Beowulf hears about this, spends the night at the hall, and defeats Grendel in a bare-handed fight by ripping off one of its arms.
