Old Robotics is a section of the Institute in 2287.
Background[]
This sector of the Commonwealth Institute of Technology was one of the most advanced robotics research facilities in the United States before the Great War. Over the years after the war, as the Institute burrowed deeper underground and built its own subterranean metropolis, the old sections of the complex were gradually abandoned, until they were finally filled with surplus combat robots and sealed off.
Layout[]
The area is only accessible during the quest The Nuclear Option for the three non-Institute factions (the Brotherhood of Steel, the Minutemen, or the Railroad). It is a linear gauntlet of rooms filled with laser turrets and synths which is traversed south to north, from its entrance in the Institute concourse to the exit to Institute BioScience. A set of smaller labs and production rooms leads to a balcony overlooking the main robotics floor. The room behind the balcony contains a Master-locked wall safe with randomized loot. Following the stairs down from this room will lead to the main floor.
Right next to the base of the stairs is another room; this room contains a wall terminal which can be used to activate a sentry bot on the far side of the main robotics floor. The sentry bot will attack everything it sees regardless of their faction and cannot be shut down via the terminal once activated. At the end of the long room is another room with a circular floor hatch. After jumping down the hatch and following the tunnel, the door to BioScience will be reached.
Notable loot[]
- Fusion core - In the room below the circular hatch near the door to the BioScience division, in the generator.
Appearances[]
Old Robotics appears only in Fallout 4.
