The Nuka-Launcher is a unique explosive heavy gun in Fallout 76, introduced in the Nuka-World on Tour update. It is a craftable legendary auto grenade launcher (AGL) with guaranteed Two Shot, Crippling, and Lightweight legendary effects, with bonus to damage dealt to mole miners and a faster-than-normal rate of fire.
Background[]
The auto grenade launcher is a fully automatic 40mm explosive heavy weapon found in Appalachia. Using 12-round belts of grenades held in a belt box on the left side of the weapon, the auto grenade launcher is capable of rapidly firing large quantities of high explosive rounds at enemies.
The paint job references Nuka Cola Victory, a flavor not available in Appalachia.
Characteristics[]
The Nuka-Launcher is a craftable, pre-configured legendary auto grenade launcher, which comes with three legendary effects, a bonus special effect, and a custom paint job by default:
- Two Shot: Fires two projectiles.
- Crippling: +50% damage to limbs.
- Lightweight: -90% weight.
- Nuka-Launcher: +50% damage to mole miners.
It also has nearly twice the firing speed of the standard AGL, with a fire rate of 30 instead of the normal 16. It is incredibly powerful due to the combination of the two shot and crippling effects, while using easy to craft 40mm grenade ammunition. Damage is further improved with perks like Demolition Expert. (However, like the normal AGL, the Nuka-Launcher does not benefit from Heavy Gunner perks.)
When fired in VATS, the grenades home in on their target, guaranteeing a hit every time (except in very rare circumstances), regardless of the actual chance to hit the target that is shown, assuming that it is not zero. Because it is very difficult to aim and fire accurately outside of VATS, the Nuka-Launcher greatly benefits from VATS-related perks.
