| ||For an overview of Nuka-Cola soda in the Fallout series of games, see Nuka-Cola.|
The ingredients of Nuka-Cola include: carbonated water, caramel color, aspartame, phosphoric acid, potassium benzoate (to protect taste), natural flavors, citric acid, and caffeine. What gives it a unique flavor is the essence of seventeen different fruits mixed in just the right proportion to give the beverage its trademark taste. Some versions of the drink also include vita-minerals and health tonics. During the Great Passion Fruit Famine of 2044, people actually noticed the taste difference when the recipe was changed.
The company began to develop a product called Nuka-Cola Clear, with "only minimal loss of life." The formula and some entries on a research terminal can be found in the Nuka-Cola plant, but it never made it into production. In Nuka-World there is a holodisk about Nuka-Cola Clear on Bradberton's desk in his office. There is also a terminal entry indicating that Clear is modified from an existing product called Sharon's Downhome Country Lemon. The drink was never released due to the cost, but was planned to at least two fiscal years later. Nuka-Cola Cranberry was developed involving the ingredient cranberries, and was advertised mainly in the Cranberry Bog region of Appalachia. It is unknown if the flavour was ever officially released. The group Sudden-Death Overtime, wanting to sell this, has sent Mercier to procure the formula while their leader, Ledoux, made contact with the buyer.
In Fallout 3, Nuka-Cola Clear was stated to simply be a cosmetically modified Nuka-Cola which would appear as a clear liquid. However, the Fallout 4 Nuka-World add-on states that it was originally a lemon-lime flavored drink that was having its formula adjusted due to costs after being acquired from its previous patent holder.
Behind the scenesEdit
- Nuka-Cola Clear resembles clear diet colas such as Tab by the Coca Cola company, and Crystal Pepsi which was sold in the early 1990s and brought back in 2015.
- Similarly, "White Coke" was a soft drink produced at the request of Soviet Marshall Georgy Zhukov who enjoyed the taste of Coca Cola, but could not be seen drinking it as it was seen as a symbol of "American imperialism" in the USSR.
- Nuka-Cola Clear could be a reference to Sprite, which is a soft drink with a taste of lemon and lime.
